Yes. If a single (or several) E. coli result will put the system over the trigger level the system has the option to stop E. coli monitoring early and proceed directly to Cryptosporidium monitoring. The system should contact their state to let them know their intention.
Filtered water systems serving fewer than 10,000 people, and not electing to sample for Cryptosporidium, must sample their source water for E. coli. at least once every two weeks for 12 months. Surface water systems sampling for E. coli will be triggered
