Frequent Questions

Is it safe to shower in water with high uranium levels?

Yes. Contaminants that are a health concern when showering are contaminants which can penetrate the skin or can be inhaled. The primary radiation given off by uranium are alpha particles, which do not penetrate the skin. Additionally, inhalation is not a concern because volatilization of uranium particles from the water while showering is not a significant exposure route compared to drinking the water. Showering would be safe with respect to uranium in drinking water.
