While the previously installed pipe, fitting or fixture does not need to meet the new definition of lead free as it was installed prior to the effective date of the new lead free requirements, the statutory language requires that any replacement parts that are pipes, fittings or fixtures must meet the lead free requirements. In addition, EPA recommends that any replacement parts that are not pipes, fittings, or fixtures that come into contact with potable water should meet the definition of lead free in the 2011 Act.
