Frequent Questions

Many of the SDWA chemistry methods list holding times in number of days. Are hold times meant to be to the minute of collection or day of collection?

For most of the chemistry methods, the holding time criteria generally refer to the length of time that a properly preserved sample can be held at a specific temperature (e.g., 4 oC) and that usually means the time/temperature criteria when the samples reach the laboratory. So it’s not really talking about the time involved with collecting and shipping the sample.
